Wakapuaka Substation

This is perhaps the most beautiful power substation in the region, thanks to our collaborators Arthouse Architecture. 

Behind the facade lies two 22 tonne 33 / 11kV transformers and a state of the art control room.  The site had its challenges: predicted sea level rise required raising the ground level, and the founding ground was comprised of soft estuarine clays.  NCEs role was to provide all geotechnical, foundation, structural and civil engineering for the project.  The project went on line in 2021.
